Moms Rock as Entrepreneurs

Five Reasons Why Moms Make Great Entrepreneurs

It’s no secret that moms are considered some of the strongest people on the planet for many different reasons. From creating life, getting it all done, and developing many new skills (some on the fly), Moms take on their roles in such a powerful way. These newly discovered and developed skills are transferable to entrepreneurship. We truly believe that moms make fantastic entrepreneurs.

An entrepreneur is a person who organizes and runs a business while taking on all of the risk for the business enterprise. Motherhood shares similar characteristics to entrepreneurs and here are five reasons we think that they rock as entrepreneurs.

Skilled Negotiators

All negotiations are about wants such as goals, wishes, purposes and values. Being a negotiator comes with the territory of being a mother. When motherhood begins, your whole life changes and you begin to negotiate terms with yourself, with your family and eventually you are in constant negation with your child. Negotiation is an important part of being an entrepreneur and is one of the most important skills in almost every aspect of running a business

Great Time Directors

Time and schedule management are a big part of being a parent. You and your family constantly have tasks to start, tasks to finish, things to do and places to be. A routine becomes a part of life and being able to estimate how long things take will be an integral part in how you manage time. As an entrepreneur, time is money so if you are able to manage your time, you are able to maximize profitability.

Excellent Project Managers

Time management and project management go hand in hand for both parenthood and entrepreneurship. Let’s be honest, as a parent, you have many tasks on the go. These can be things that are for your self-care, for your family, for your home and beyond. Being able to manage multiple tasks (and people) at a time is like managing multiple projects in your business.

Expert Problem Solvers

It’s no secret that being a mom means that you have to constantly solve problems on the fly. You never know what issues may arise and often you will need to think on your toes. Your resolutions may be creative, unique and created in the moment. This skill is transferable to entrepreneurship because business owners are often coming up with imaginative solutions to unique problems in a very timely manner.

Rapid Creative Thinkers

Besides being epic problem solvers, mothers tend to be extremely creative thinkers. Especially since a lot of parents are spending more time with their children while being safe at home, innovative ideas are always flowing. In business, creativity is what makes you stand out from your competition and helps you build relationships with your current and future customers.

TAKE THAT FIRST STEP

If you are a mom and have been thinking about dipping your toes into the entrepreneurial pond, we say do it! It never hurts to try something new and since becoming a mom, you have acquired many skills that can be applied to achieving your business ownership goals.
